This short morning prayer is for anyone who wants to bring their brother before God at the start of the day. You can pray it aloud as written, or use it as a starting point and put his name, his struggles and his hopes into your own words. It works well in the first few quiet minutes after waking, over a cup of coffee, or on the drive to work.

Short Morning Prayer for My Brother

Lord, thank you for this new morning. Before the phone starts ringing and the day picks up speed, I bring my brother to you. You know the weight he carries, the decisions he has to make today, and the conversations he dreads or hopes for. Go before him into the hours ahead. Steady his thoughts, guard his heart, and give him enough patience for the people he will meet.

Father, I also ask you to be near him where he feels alone. If he is worried about work, money, his health, or someone he loves, let him feel your presence in the middle of it. Give him wisdom for the choices that cannot wait, and the humility to ask for help when he needs it. Let him see small signs of your care before the day is done.

I pray that you would bless him with a good day, not because everything will go his way, but because you are with him in whatever comes. Remind him that he is known and loved. Keep me mindful of him as well, so I can be the kind of sibling he needs. Thank you for hearing this prayer. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I bring my brother to you this morning. You know what he faces today, the tasks, the people and the worries he is carrying. Go with him, steady his heart and give him wisdom for each decision. Be close to him wherever he feels alone. Bless his day and let him feel your nearness. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

7 The LORD will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. 8 The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Pray that your brother would trust the Lord with the decisions in front of him today. Ask God to make his paths straight, especially where he cannot yet see the way forward.

How to Pray This Prayer

Pray this prayer while your brother is still getting ready for the day, or in the quiet minutes before you check your messages. A kitchen table, a cup of tea, or a short walk around the block all work well. If you can, keep a small note with his name and what he has coming up, such as a meeting, an appointment or a hard conversation, so you can pray specifically rather than in general terms.

You might also invite someone else to pray with you, a spouse, a friend or a church small group. Many people find it helpful to text their brother a short line afterward, letting him know he was lifted up that morning. That simple act can remind both of you that you are not facing the day alone.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord go before your brother this morning and walk beside him through every hour. May he feel God’s peace when the day is hard and God’s joy when it is good. May he know, without any doubt, that he is loved and held.
