This morning prayer is written for you to pray for your sister as the day begins. Use it in the early hours, before the house wakes or before you open your phone, to place her day, her choices and her heart in God’s hands. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words.

Morning Prayer for My Sister

Lord, thank You for this new morning. Before the day gets loud, I bring my sister to You. You know how she woke up today, whether she slept well or lay awake with worries that followed her into the dark. You know the work waiting for her, the conversations she dreads, the decisions she has not yet made and the people she will meet. Go before her into all of it. Settle the anxious places in her mind, and give her the kind of calm that does not depend on how the day unfolds.

Father, I also pray for her body and her strength. Give her energy for the tasks in front of her and patience with the people who test it. Where she feels tired or stretched thin, remind her that she does not have to carry everything at once. Guard her from harsh words, from comparison and from the quiet discouragement that creeps in when things go slowly. Let her be kind to herself, and let her see Your hand in small mercies, like a good cup of coffee, a friend’s text or a clear sky.

Above all, let her know she is loved and held. Whatever she faces today, may she walk into it knowing she is Yours and that You are near. Give her wisdom for her choices, courage for what she must say and grace for what she cannot fix. Make her a light to the people around her, and let her sense Your presence from the first hour to the last. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I lift my sister to You this morning. Go before her into every hour of today. Steady her heart, give her strength for what lies ahead and let her feel Your nearness in the ordinary moments. Guard her from fear and help her walk in Your peace. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a quiet spot where you will not be interrupted, such as a chair by the window, the edge of the bed or the kitchen table before the household stirs. Read the prayer slowly, pausing after each sentence to think of your sister by name and picture her face. If you have a cup of tea or coffee in your hands, let it be a reminder to pray for her each time you lift it.

You might also invite someone else to pray with you, a spouse, a close friend or a prayer partner, who can carry your sister’s day alongside you. Consider sending her a short message afterward saying you prayed for her this morning. Many people find that knowing someone was asking God for them is a gift in itself.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord go before her in every step today and walk beside her through each hour. May His peace guard her heart and His strength steady her hands. May she rest in His love, be kind to herself and shine His light wherever she goes.
