This is a written prayer for peace and healing, meant for the moments when your body, your mind, or someone you love is struggling and you do not know where to begin. You can pray it in the morning before the day gets loud, at a bedside, in the car before a difficult appointment, or late at night when sleep will not come. Read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words where they fit.

Prayers for Peace and Healing

Lord, you know the weight I am carrying right now. You know the pain that wakes me before the alarm, the questions I cannot answer, and the fear that sits in my chest when the house is quiet. I bring my body to you and ask for healing where it is broken, weary, or worn thin. I bring my mind to you too, because the worry keeps circling and I cannot quiet it on my own.

Give me peace that makes sense of nothing and still holds steady. Settle the racing thoughts, soften the tight places in my shoulders, and let me rest even when the news is not yet good. Be near to the people who love me and to the ones who are caring for me, and give them strength for the long hours. Where healing is slow, keep me patient. Where it is quick, keep me grateful. Whatever comes, let me not face it alone.

I trust that you are good, even when I cannot see how this will end. Hold me in your care and carry what I cannot. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, I am tired and afraid, and I need your peace right now. Heal what hurts, calm what is racing, and steady my heart for the next hour. Be with the people I love and with the ones who are helping us. I trust you with what I cannot fix. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Paul moves from anxiety straight to prayer and thanksgiving. When you pray this for peace, name each worry in turn and then thank God for hearing it, letting the peace he promises come as you hand the worries over.

Psalm 147:3

He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.

(WEB)

This verse links God’s care to the wounded and the broken hearted. Pray it slowly over a specific injury or grief, asking him to bind up exactly what you have named.

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you.

(WEB)

The verse speaks of a mind kept steady by trust. Repeat it when your thoughts start to spiral, turning each return of worry into a fresh act of trust in God.

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

(WEB)

Jesus gives a peace that is different from what the world offers. Pray it as a request to receive that peace, especially in a room where fear feels stronger than hope.

Psalm 30:2

The LORD my God, I cried to you, and you have healed me.

(WEB)

The psalmist remembers crying out and being healed. Use this verse to recall times God has helped you before, and ask him to do so again in this season.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a time when you can be still for five minutes, such as first thing in the morning or just before bed. Sit somewhere you feel safe, and if your hands need something to do, hold a cup of tea, a Bible, or the hand of the person you are praying for. Read the main prayer once slowly, then pause after each paragraph to let your own concerns surface and speak them to God.

If you are praying on behalf of someone who is sick or struggling, invite a friend, family member, or your church to pray this with you. Read it aloud together, taking turns with the paragraphs. Ask the person you are praying for whether they would like the prayer spoken over them, and let them shape the words where they want to.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord grant you peace that steadies your heart and healing that reaches every tired place. May he sit with you in the waiting and keep watch through the night. May you rest in his care today, knowing you are held.
