This night prayer for daily grace is written for the end of the day, when the to-do list is still unfinished, a conversation keeps replaying in your mind, and you need to hand it all back to God before you sleep. Pray it at bedtime, or in the quiet minutes after the house settles. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words.

Night Prayer for Daily Grace

Father, thank You for carrying me through this day. You saw every hurried morning, every word I wished I had chosen differently, and every small kindness that went unnoticed. I bring You the things I could not finish and the conversations I am still turning over. Take them from my hands. Where I failed, forgive me, and where I was faithful, let that be Your doing and not mine.

Quiet my mind now. Stop the replaying of tomorrow’s worries and the rehearsing of tomorrow’s arguments. Let my body rest the way You designed it to rest. Watch over the people I love while I sleep, and over those who are awake tonight with fear, pain, or grief. Keep my family safe, and keep my home a place of peace. Give me what I need to face the next day, not all of it at once, but one morning at a time.

Thank You that Your grace is new each day, and that I do not have to earn it or carry it on my own. I rest in that tonight. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I am tired and I am carrying too much. Take the weight of this day and set it down with You. Forgive what I got wrong, thank You for what went right, and keep watch over me and the people I love while I sleep. Give me grace for tomorrow, enough for what it asks. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. 23 They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

(WEB)

Pray these words when the day has left you spent. Thank God that His mercies have not run out, and that each morning is a fresh supply of faithfulness, including the morning after a hard day.

Psalm 4:8

In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, the LORD alone, make me live in safety.

(WEB)

Read this slowly as you lie down. Ask God to let this be true of you tonight, that you can lie down and sleep because He keeps you safe, not because everything is settled.

Psalm 127:2

It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his loved ones.

(WEB)

Let this verse loosen your grip on the work that never ends. Confess any anxious striving, and receive the reminder that God gives rest to those He loves, even when the list is not complete.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

(WEB)

Take Jesus at His word here. Bring Him the weariness you feel in your body and your heart, and ask Him to give you the rest He is offering.

Psalm 121:3-4

3 He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

(WEB)

Use this passage to pray for protection over your household during the night. Name the people you are worried about and entrust them to the One who never sleeps.

How to Pray This Prayer

Pray this prayer at the end of the day, after the lights are low and before you reach for your phone. A bedside chair, the edge of the bed, or a quiet corner of the kitchen works well. Some people find it helpful to write down the three or four things weighing on them most and then hold the paper while they pray, setting it aside afterward as a physical act of release.

If you share a home, you can pray the first part aloud together, or ask a spouse, roommate, or friend to pray the closing blessing over you. You might also keep a copy near your bed and return to it on nights when you cannot think of words of your own. Grace is not something you have to generate; it is something you receive, and this prayer simply gives you a way to open your hands.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who keeps watch over Israel keep watch over you tonight. May He settle your heart, steady your breathing, and let you sleep without fear. And when morning comes, may His grace meet you there, sufficient for the day and fresh as the light.
