This night prayer is for the end of a working day when your boss is still on your mind. It helps you hand over the meetings, decisions and tensions you carried home, and ask God to care for the person who leads you. Pray it at bedtime, in the car before you go inside, or whenever the day’s pressures come back to you. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and add your own words.

Night Prayer for My Boss

Lord, thank you for this day and for the work you gave me to do in it. I bring my boss to you now, the person who carries responsibility for the team, the deadlines and the decisions that land on so many desks. You see every email they answered tonight and every worry they could not put down. Give them rest tonight, the kind that reaches the body and the mind. Quiet the list that keeps running in their head and let them sleep without fear of what tomorrow requires.

Father, I ask you to protect their home and their family while they are away from them. Guard their health, their marriage or friendships, and the people they love most. Where they are tired or discouraged, lift them up. Where they have made mistakes today, meet them with your mercy and show them what to do next. Give them wisdom for the choices still ahead, and let them know they are not carrying all of it alone. I also release my own frustration and ask you to soften my heart toward them. Keep me from carrying resentment into my sleep. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, you know my boss better than I do. Rest is a gift from you, so I ask you to give it to them tonight. Guard their family, steady their mind and forgive the places where they fell short today. Give them wisdom for tomorrow and remind them that they are held by you. Help me let go of the tension I brought home from work. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 127:2

It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his loved ones.

Use this verse to ask God to give your boss rest in the middle of heavy responsibility. It reminds you that God does not need them to carry everything through their own anxious effort.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

Bring your boss to Jesus with the words of this invitation, asking him to lift the weight they have carried all day. Let it also remind you to set down your own burdens at the same time.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

Pray this passage for your boss’s worries, asking that they would bring each concern to God in prayer and receive a peace that guards the heart and mind. Let it shape your own evening too.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Ask God to direct your boss’s decisions tomorrow, especially the ones they feel unsure about. This is a prayer for guidance rather than for having all the answers.

How to Pray This Prayer

Pray it at the end of the day, when you are sitting down after dinner or lying in bed with the lights off. If you find your mind racing, keep a pen near your bed and write down the specific concerns you have about your boss before you begin. Then read the prayer slowly, pausing after each sentence to let the words settle. You might also try holding a cup of tea or resting your hand on your heart while you speak.

Consider inviting a spouse, roommate or friend to pray the prayer with you, especially if your boss is going through a hard season. Praying together can keep the focus on your boss’s good rather than on workplace complaints. You might also pray the blessing at the close over your boss in the morning, so the night prayer and the day’s work stay connected.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord bless your boss and keep them through the night. May he lift the weight from their shoulders and grant them rest that restores both body and spirit. May he watch over their family and go before them into tomorrow with grace and clarity. And may the same peace of God settle over you as you close your eyes.
