A night prayer for my faith is a short, honest conversation with God at the end of the day, asking him to strengthen trust when you feel tired, doubtful, or simply worn thin. Pray it at bedtime, once the lights are low and the day’s noise has finally stopped. You can read the prayer below aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and say in your own words what is on your heart.
Night Prayer for My Faith
Lord, I come to you at the close of this day, and I bring you the faith I have, which is sometimes strong and sometimes barely a flicker. Some evenings I feel close to you, and other evenings your presence feels far away and my prayers feel like they stop at the ceiling. Tonight I do not need to pretend. I am tired, and I am asking you to meet me in the honest place where I actually am.
Thank you for the moments today when you were near, even the small ones: a kind word, a quiet minute, a verse that landed when I needed it. Forgive me for the times I went through the day as though you were not there, for the worry I carried instead of handing it to you, and for the doubts I kept to myself. Help me to lay those down now. Let my faith be a steady thing rather than a performance I have to keep up.
As I sleep, watch over my mind and my heart. Quiet the thoughts that circle and ask what if. Guard my rest and let me wake tomorrow with a little more trust than I went to bed with. Strengthen what is weak in me, and keep hold of me even when I cannot feel your hand. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Father, I am too tired for many words tonight. Thank you for today, even the hard parts. Meet me in my doubt and steady my faith while I sleep. Hold me in the dark when I cannot hold on to you. Give me rest, and help me trust that you are still good when I wake. Amen.
Scriptures to Pray Alongside
Psalm 4:8
In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, the LORD alone, make me live in safety.

Read this slowly as you lie down and let it become your own statement of trust. Notice that the peace David describes is the result of God’s keeping, not of his own ability to stay awake and in control.
Psalm 121:3-4
3 He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
(WEB)
Pray these lines when you feel anxious about the night or about someone you love. Ask God to be the one who keeps watch, so that you are free to rest.
Lamentations 3:22-23
22 It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. 23 They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.
(WEB)
When yesterday’s failures are still weighing on you, bring this verse to God. Thank him that his faithfulness does not run out at sunset and that tomorrow’s mercies are already on their way.
Isaiah 26:3
You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you.
(WEB)
Use this verse to ask for a mind that rests in God rather than rehearsing its worries. Pray that your faith would be anchored in him, not in how well you feel about your belief tonight.
Mark 9:24
Immediately the father of the child cried out with tears, “I believe. Help my unbelief!”
(WEB)
This short prayer of a worried father is a good one for a faith that feels thin. Say it honestly to God, admitting that you believe and also that you need help with your unbelief.
How to Pray This Prayer
Choose a time after you have finished your last task and before you pick up your phone again. Sit or lie down in a dim room, and if you like, rest one hand on your chest or hold a small object, such as a smooth stone or a worn cross, to keep your attention from drifting. Read the main prayer slowly, pausing after each paragraph to let the words settle before moving on.
If your faith feels especially fragile, you might ask a friend, spouse, or family member to pray it with you, reading one paragraph each. Some people keep a notebook by the bed and write down one thing they trust God with before closing it. Whatever you choose, let the prayer be short enough that you can finish it, even on a difficult night.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord who keeps watch over you tonight give you rest that reaches deeper than sleep. May his faithfulness meet you in the morning, and may your faith grow quietly, one honest prayer at a time, as you learn to trust him in the dark and in the light.
