This bedtime prayer is for the quiet hours when a day of weakness, pain or worry is finally over and you want to hand it all to God before you sleep. Pray it in the evening, just before you turn out the light, asking God for strength to rest and healing for the body and heart. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words.

Bedtime Prayer for Strength and Healing

Father, the day is ending, and I bring it to You as it is. I am tired in my body, and some of my strength has run out faster than I expected. I have carried pain, worry, and the weight of things I could not fix. Thank You that You do not grow weary, and that You give power to those who feel faint.

Lord, I ask You to heal what hurts tonight, whether it is in my body, my mind, or my relationships. Ease the ache, calm the racing thoughts, and give my heart a rest it cannot give itself. Where I have been anxious about tomorrow, take that anxiety from me and hold it in Your hands. Restore what is weak and give me enough strength for the morning, one step at a time.

Watch over me while I sleep. Guard my rest, keep me safe in the dark, and let me wake refreshed by Your mercy, which is new every morning. Thank You for the good things in this day, even the small ones. Heal me, strengthen me, and let me sleep in peace because You are awake. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I am worn out and I need You. Give me strength for what is left of this night, and heal whatever hurts. Calm my thoughts, take my worries, and keep me safe while I sleep. Let me wake with a little more strength than I have now. Thank You for being with me. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Isaiah 40:29

He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.

(WEB)

Read this slowly when you feel spent, and ask God to give you power where your own has run dry. It reminds you that weakness is not the end of the story when God is the source of strength.

Psalm 147:3

He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.

(WEB)

Bring your wounds, visible or hidden, to the Lord who binds up broken hearts. Pray that He would tend the places that still ache as you lie down to rest.

Psalm 4:8

In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, the LORD alone, make me live in safety.

(WEB)

Use this verse as a closing prayer of trust before sleep. Ask God to grant you rest and to keep you secure through the night.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

(WEB)

Let this invitation shape your prayer. Tell Jesus the things that have worn you down and ask Him to give you the rest only He can give.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

When worry keeps you awake, pray through these verses by naming each concern to God with thanks. Ask Him to guard your heart and mind with His peace as you fall asleep.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a time just before bed, when the lights are low and your phone is set aside. Sit on the edge of your bed or kneel beside it, and keep a hand on your chest or open on your lap if that helps you stay present. Pray slowly, pausing after each sentence to let the words settle before moving on.

If you share a home, you might pray this prayer aloud with a spouse, a child, or a friend who is also carrying weight. Each person can add one concern of their own before saying amen together. Even if you pray alone, you can ask someone you trust to pray for your healing and rest in the same week.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who keeps watch over you give you strength for the morning and healing for what hurts. May He settle your heart, guard your sleep, and hold you safely through the night. Rest now, knowing you are cared for.
