This bedtime prayer is for the quiet end of the day, when you are thinking about tomorrow’s bills, groceries, paychecks, and the many small needs that have to be met. It is meant to be prayed in the evening, just before sleep, to hand those needs to God and rest in His faithfulness. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and put your own words to the worries you carry.

Bedtime Prayer for Daily Provision

Father, the day is ending and I am still thinking about what tomorrow will require. I think about the rent or the mortgage, the grocery list on the counter, the gas in the car, and the school lunches still to pack. Some of these things I handled well today, and some I handled poorly. Now I set them down before You. I do not have to carry the whole week in my head while I try to sleep.

Thank You for the bread on the table tonight and for the roof over my head. Thank You for the work I was able to do, for the people who helped me, and for the small mercies I almost missed. Remind me that every good thing came from Your hand. Where I have been anxious about money or food or time, quiet my heart and help me trust that You know what I need before I ask.

Watch over my home while I sleep. Guard the people I love, keep the door locked and the lights low, and give me a deep and restful night. When I wake, let me meet the new day with open hands, ready to receive whatever You give and to share what You have entrusted to me. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I am tired and my mind is full of tomorrow’s needs. Provide what I need, and help me trust You with what I cannot control. Thank You for today’s bread and for Your care through the night. Keep my family safe and let me rest in You. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Matthew 6:11

Give us today our daily bread.

(WEB)

Jesus taught His followers to ask for daily bread, which means asking for only what today requires. Pray this line slowly at night, and let it loosen your grip on what tomorrow might bring.

Psalm 23:1

The LORD is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing.

(WEB)

Read this as a statement about God’s character rather than a wish. Name the specific need you are facing and say, “The Lord is my shepherd, and so this need is in His care.”

Philippians 4:19

My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Paul wrote this to a church that had been generous to him. Pray it for yourself, placing your own needs next to the riches of God’s glory and asking Him to supply them.

Psalm 4:8

In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, the LORD alone, make me live in safety.

(WEB)

Use this verse as you lie down. Let the promise of peace and safety settle your body as well as your mind, and thank God for each restful breath.

Matthew 6:34

Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.

(WEB)

Jesus pointed to the lilies and the birds to show that worry steals from today. Pray this verse to release tomorrow’s troubles into God’s hands for the night.

How to Pray This Prayer

Pray this prayer in the last few minutes before you turn off the light, ideally in the same spot each night, such as the edge of your bed or a particular chair. Before you begin, write down on a scrap of paper the two or three provision worries that are keeping you awake. Hold the paper while you pray, then place it on the nightstand or in a drawer as a physical reminder that you have handed them over.

If you share a home, invite a spouse, roommate, or child to pray the shorter version with you. A family praying together about daily needs can hear each other’s concerns and remember to thank God for the ways He has already provided. Keep the prayer short on nights when you are exhausted, and linger longer on nights when your worries feel heavy.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who feeds the birds of the air give you bread for tomorrow and peace for tonight. May He keep watch over your home while you sleep, and wake you rested and ready for the day He has made.
