This prayer is for the days when you are tired of holding on and need strength to keep going. Pray it in the morning before the day’s demands begin, or at night when you are worn out and want to hand what is left of your strength to God. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and put your own words in where your situation calls for them.

Daily Prayer for Endurance

Lord, you know how long this has been going on. Some mornings I wake up already tired, and the list of what has to be done feels heavier than I can carry. Be near me in the ordinary hours: the phone calls, the unfinished tasks, the people who need something from me, and the quiet moments when I wonder whether anything is changing at all. Give me steady feet rather than a frantic pace, so that I can take one faithful step at a time without trying to see the whole road at once.

When I want to quit, remind me that you have not quit on me. When I feel invisible in my effort, let me know that you see every act of showing up, even the ones no one else notices. Guard my heart from bitterness and my mind from the lie that I must do everything alone. Teach me to rest without guilt, to ask for help without shame, and to trust that you can use even my weakness to accomplish what I cannot. I give you today as it is, and I ask you to carry the parts of it I cannot. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, I am tired and I need you now. Give me enough strength for this next hour, and no more worry than that. Steady my hands and my heart. Help me keep going one faithful step at a time, trusting that you are holding me while I hold on. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

(WEB)

Pray this verse when you feel completely drained. Ask God to renew your strength the way a bird gathers lift from the wind, not by your own effort but by waiting on him and receiving what he gives.

Galatians 6:9

Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up.

(WEB)

Use this verse when doing good feels thankless or slow. Pray that you would not grow weary in the everyday faithfulness of your work, your family, or your calling, trusting that a harvest is coming in its proper time.

Romans 5:3-5

3 Not only this, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, proven character; and proven character, hope: 5 and hope doesn’t disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

(WEB)

Bring this passage to God when hardship seems pointless. Ask him to form patience in you through the difficulty, and to pour his love into your heart so that endurance does not leave you empty.

Psalm 46:1-2

1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we won’t be afraid, though the earth changes, though the mountains are shaken into the heart of the seas…

(WEB)

Pray these lines when the ground under your life feels unsteady. Name the specific things that are shaking you, and ask God to be the refuge and strength you run to rather than the one you only remember when all else fails.

Hebrews 12:1-2

1 Therefore let us also, seeing we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising its shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

(WEB)

Read this passage when you feel like giving up the race. Ask Jesus to help you lay aside what slows you down, and to keep your eyes fixed on him, who endured far more than you are facing now.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a set time each day, such as while the coffee brews or during the drive before work, so the prayer becomes a habit rather than something you remember only in a crisis. If you can, pray it in a place where you can sit or stand quietly, even for two minutes. Keeping a small note or the prayer on your phone lets you return to it between tasks.

Try holding something in your hands while you pray, like a smooth stone, a ring, or the steering wheel, and let the physical object remind you to release each worry to God as you speak it. You might also share this prayer with a spouse, a close friend, or a small group, asking them to pray it over you on the days you feel weakest. Endurance is easier to sustain when someone else is carrying the load with you.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord strengthen you for each day as it comes, and may he meet you in the places where you are weary. May he give you the grace to keep going, the peace to rest, and the joy of knowing you are never walking alone.
