This daily prayer is for anyone who spends their days giving to other people, whether that is a parent, nurse, teacher, pastor, caregiver, or volunteer. Pray it in the morning before the first demand arrives, or at the end of the day when you have nothing left to give. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words where your heart says more.
Daily Prayer for Those Serving Others
Lord, you see the people I serve before I do. You know the names, the needs, the phone calls I dread and the ones I am glad to answer. Today I bring you my hands, my patience, and my tired heart. Some days I give more than I have, and I feel the gap between what I can offer and what is being asked of me. Help me to remember that I am not the source of the strength I need. You are.
Give me wisdom for the decisions that have no easy answer, and kindness for the people who are hard to love. Keep me from serving out of pride or fear of disappointing others, and let my work come from a genuine love for them. When I feel unseen or unthanked, remind me that you see every quiet act. Guard my body and my mind from burnout, and show me where to rest without guilt. Let my service today point people toward your goodness. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Father, I am giving again today, and I need you to fill what I pour out. Give me patience for the next person who needs me, and clarity for what matters most. Let my hands work and my heart stay soft. Thank you for the people I serve and for the chance to love them in your name. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Choose a fixed moment that already belongs to you, such as the first cup of coffee, the drive to work, or the few minutes after the last child is asleep. Keep a copy somewhere you will see it, like the dashboard, the kitchen counter, or the inside of your work bag. If your hands are busy with dishes, a patient, or a stack of papers, you can pray silently as you move, letting each task become a small act of offering.
You might also invite a spouse, friend, or fellow volunteer to pray it with you, or pray it for someone who serves beside you. Carrying each other’s burdens in prayer is one of the ways we keep serving from becoming lonely. Ask one another how the prayer is shaping your days, and keep returning to it when the week grows heavy.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord who gives strength to the weary fill your hands with what they need for today. May he rest your heart when it is tired, and show you the good that your service is doing. May you be held by a peace that does not depend on the outcome of any task.
