This prayer is for the moment when your faith feels thin, when prayers seem to bounce off the ceiling and God feels distant or unclear. Pray it when you wake up unsure, after a hard season, or when doubt has been whispering for days. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words.

Prayer for My Faith

Lord, I come to you honestly today. Some days I believe with my whole heart, and other days I find myself wondering whether you are really listening and whether my faith is strong enough to matter. I don’t want to pretend. I bring you the questions, the tiredness, and the quiet fear that I am falling behind in trusting you.

Father, please strengthen what is weak in me. Help me remember what you have already done, in my life and in the lives of people who went before me. Settle my mind when it races, and give me patience with the parts of my faith that are still growing. Open my eyes to the ways you are working even when I cannot see the outcome yet.

I ask you to give me a faith that holds on, not because I am strong, but because you are faithful. Keep me close to your Word, to honest prayer, and to people who love you. Let my doubts drive me toward you rather than away. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, my faith feels small right now. Help me believe that you are near, even when I cannot feel it. Steady my heart, quiet my fears, and remind me that you have not stopped being faithful to me. Strengthen what is weak in me, one honest step at a time. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Mark 9:24

Immediately the father of the child cried out with tears, “I believe. Help my unbelief!”

(WEB)

This father’s cry is a model for anyone whose faith is mixed with doubt. Pray it as your own confession, asking God to meet the unbelief you feel and to grow belief where it is still small.

Psalm 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.”

(WEB)

When your mind is noisy and your faith feels shaky, this verse invites you to stop striving. Pray it slowly, letting God’s steadiness become louder than your anxious thoughts.

Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen.

(WEB)

Faith is described here as confidence in what is hoped for and assurance about what is not yet seen. Ask God to give you that kind of assurance about the things you still cannot see clearly.

Romans 8:38-39

38 For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from God’s love, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

(WEB)

Paul lists the things that could separate us from God and then answers that none of them can. Pray this passage when you fear that your doubts or failures have put you out of reach of his love.

Philippians 1:6

Being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

(WEB)

This verse assures you that God began a good work in you and will finish it. Pray it as a reminder that your faith is still being shaped, and that God is patient with the process.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many people find it helpful to pray this prayer first thing in the morning, before the phone and the to-do list take over. Sit in a chair near a window or at your kitchen table with a cup of something warm. Keep your Bible or a notebook beside you so you can read one of the verses above and write down what stands out.

If your faith feels especially weak, pray it with a friend, a spouse, or a small group who can speak these words over you as well. Let them pray in their own voice, and then take a moment to be quiet together. Doubt often loosens its grip when you are not carrying it alone.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who began a good work in you keep you steady when your faith feels thin. May he meet your questions with patience and your weakness with strength. Go in peace, knowing that you are held by the One whose faithfulness does not depend on how strong you feel today.
