This simple prayer for peace and healing is for the moments when your body is worn down, your mind won’t settle, and you don’t have the words to ask for what you need. Pray it in the morning before the day gets loud, at the bedside during a long night, or whenever worry rises faster than you can name it. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words.

Simple Prayer for Peace and Healing

Lord, you know what I am carrying today. You know the tiredness that sits in my bones, the pain that wakes me before I want to be awake, and the worries that keep replaying in my head at three in the morning. I don’t need to explain it all to you, but I want to bring it to you honestly. Please meet me in the places that hurt, in my body and in my heart.

Give me peace that doesn’t depend on how this turns out. Quiet my restless thoughts and steady my breathing. Where there is fear, replace it with trust in your faithful care. Where there is sickness, bring healing, whether slowly or suddenly, and give the doctors, nurses and the people who love me wisdom and patience. Help me rest in you even when I cannot see the way forward.

Thank you that you are near, that you hear the quiet prayers as well as the loud ones, and that you have never left anyone alone in their suffering. I receive your peace and I place my healing in your hands. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I am tired and anxious right now. Settle my heart and calm my mind. Be near to my body and bring healing where I need it. Give me your peace for this next hour, and remind me that I am not carrying this alone. Thank you for hearing me. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Paul names anxiety directly and then points to prayer as the way to bring it to God. Pray these words slowly, handing over each worry as you name it, and ask for the peace that guards your heart and mind.

Psalm 147:3

He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.

(WEB)

This short verse pictures God as one who tends broken hearts and binds up wounds. Use it when you feel emotionally raw, and ask him to do that quiet mending in the places only he can see.

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

(WEB)

Jesus speaks of a peace that is different from what the world offers. Pray this verse when you are tempted to think peace must come from circumstances changing first, and ask him to give you his kind of peace now.

Isaiah 41:10

Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

(WEB)

God speaks to his people with the words “do not fear” and promises his presence and strength. Pray this into a specific fear you are facing, and let the promise of his nearness meet that fear directly.

Psalm 46:1

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

(WEB)

The psalmist calls God a refuge and a strength, present in trouble. When you feel you have nowhere to turn, pray this verse as a way of stepping back under his protection and admitting that he is your place of safety.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a time when you can sit or kneel without being rushed, such as before you get out of bed or after the house has gone quiet at night. Hold something in your hands while you pray, like a warm cup, a smooth stone, or your own open palms resting in your lap. The physical act can help your attention settle when your thoughts keep wandering.

You might also pray this prayer with someone else. Ask a friend, a family member or someone from your church to pray it with you, or to pray it for you in their own words. Sharing the request often lightens the load, and you may find that another person’s voice gives you courage to keep trusting when your own feels thin.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord bless you and keep you in this season. May he give you peace that steadies your heart when everything feels uncertain, and may he bring healing to your body and your spirit in his good time. May you rest in the knowledge that you are seen, held and loved.
