This simple prayer for good health is written for anyone who wants to bring their body, their energy and their worries about their physical wellbeing before God. Pray it when you wake up with a sore back, after a hard diagnosis, before a doctor’s appointment, or on an ordinary evening when you simply feel worn down. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and put your own words to what you are carrying.

Simple Prayer for Good Health

Lord, you made my body and you know every part of it, including the parts that ache, tire and worry me. I bring you my health today. I ask for strength where I feel weak, for rest where I feel exhausted, and for healing where something is hurting or not working the way it should. Be near to me, Lord, in the tests I am waiting on and in the long nights when I cannot sleep.

I ask you to guard the people I love as well, especially those who are sick or caring for someone who is. Give wisdom to the doctors, nurses and caregivers who look after us, and give them patience and steady hands. Where I am tempted to fear the worst, remind me that you are faithful and that my life is held in your hands. Help me to take care of the body you have given me, to eat well, move, rest and ask for help when I need it.

Whatever comes, let me trust you with my health, and let me find my peace in your presence. Thank you for every breath, every step and every good day. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, I am tired and I am worried about my health. Give me strength for this day, and healing where I need it. Be with my body and my mind, and steady my heart as I wait. Thank you that I can come to you at any time, in any state. Keep me well in the ways that matter most, and help me to rest in your care. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 103:2-3

2 Praise the LORD, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits; 3 who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases…

(WEB)

Use this passage to thank God for the many good things he has done for your body and soul, and ask him to heal what needs healing. Naming his past kindnesses can steady you when your present health feels uncertain.

Isaiah 40:29

He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.

(WEB)

When your strength is running low, pray this verse slowly and ask God to give you the power you do not have on your own. Let it be a reminder that weariness is not the end of the story.

Jeremiah 17:14

Heal me, O the LORD, and I will be healed. Save me, and I will be saved; for you are my praise.

(WEB)

Pray this verse as a plea for healing, asking God to make you well in the way only he can. Bring specific conditions or worries to him as you read it, trusting him with the outcome.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

(WEB)

Read this invitation as a prayer, bringing your exhaustion to Jesus and asking him for rest. Many people find that health struggles weigh on the mind as much as the body, and this verse speaks to both.

3 John 1:2

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers.

(WEB)

This short verse shows the apostle’s hope that a friend would be well in body as he was prospering in soul. Pray it for yourself or someone you love, asking that physical health and inner peace would grow together.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a time of day when you are not rushed, such as first thing in the morning or just before bed. Sit somewhere quiet, and if it helps, rest a hand on your chest, your forehead or the part of your body that is causing you concern. Physical touch can anchor your attention and turn a vague request into a focused one.

You might also pray this with someone else. A spouse, friend or family member can read the prayer aloud while you listen, or you can take turns praying the sentences that name each person’s needs. If you are caring for someone who is unwell, pray it over them, changing the pronouns as you go, and then take a moment to rest in God’s care for you too.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord strengthen your body and steady your mind. May he give you rest when you are weary and hope when you are afraid. May he keep you in his care today and every day, and may you know that you are loved, held and never forgotten by the one who made you.
