This night prayer is for the people you work alongside, the ones you see at the desk, in the break room, or on the other end of a video call. Pray it at the end of the day, after you have stopped working and before you sleep. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words about the people you are thinking of.

Night Prayer for My Coworkers

Lord, the day is ending, and I bring my coworkers to you before I rest. You know the deadlines that pressed on them, the emails that arrived too late, and the meetings that ran long. You know the worries they carried home in their heads even when they smiled at the office. Settle their minds now. Where someone is anxious about money, a job review, or a decision still unmade, give them a calm they cannot manufacture on their own.

Watch over the ones who are struggling with their health, with a marriage under strain, or with a child who is not doing well. Be near to the coworker who is grieving, and to the one who feels overlooked or unsure whether they belong. Guard their sleep tonight. Let no fear wake them in the small hours, and let them wake rested and ready for what the morning brings. Teach me to care for them as you do, not only when it is convenient.

Thank you for the work we shared today, for the help given and received, and for the laughter that got us through a hard hour. Keep each of us safe on the roads home, and keep our families safe while we are away. Hold our coworkers close, Lord, through the night and into tomorrow. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, I am tired, and so are the people I work with. Quiet their thoughts tonight. Give the worried ones peace, the hurting ones comfort, and the ones who feel alone the sure knowledge that you see them. Keep them safe while they sleep, and let them wake to a new day with fresh hope. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 4:8

In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, the LORD alone, make me live in safety.

(WEB)

Pray this verse over your coworkers as they lie down, trusting that rest is a gift God gives and not something they must earn by holding everything together. Ask him to let them sleep without the weight of unfinished work pressing on them.

Psalm 127:2

It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his loved ones.

(WEB)

Use this verse to release the pressure your coworkers feel to keep striving. Name the late nights and the constant worry, and ask God to remind them that he cares for them even while they rest.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

(WEB)

Bring this invitation to the tired and burdened people you work beside. Pray that each one would hear Jesus calling them to himself at the end of the day and find real relief in him.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Pray this passage for coworkers who lie awake with anxious thoughts. Ask that they would bring their concerns to God in prayer and receive a peace that steadies their hearts through the night.

Psalm 121:3-4

3 He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

(WEB)

Ask God to keep watch over your coworkers as they sleep and as they drive, travel, or care for their families. Trust that the one who never slumbers is awake on their behalf through every hour of the night.

How to Pray This Prayer

Pray this prayer in a quiet moment after you have finished work, perhaps sitting in your car before you go inside, at the kitchen table, or in bed with the lights dimmed. Hold a coworker’s name in your mind as you pray each concern. If you know the particular stress a person is facing, speak that name and need by name, since God knows each of them personally.

Consider keeping a short list in your phone or on a card by your bed. Add a name or two each evening, and pray through the list over the coming week. You might also invite a friend or family member to pray with you, so that your coworkers are carried by more than one voice.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who keeps Israel neither slumber nor sleep watch over every person you work beside tonight. May they rest deeply, wake refreshed, and walk into tomorrow knowing they are known, held, and loved by God.
