This short prayer is for asking God to meet the everyday needs of your life, the food on the table, the bills paid, the strength to get through the day. Pray it when you wake up, before a meal, or whenever worry about money, work or basic needs starts pressing on you. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and put your own words to the same requests.

Short Prayer for Daily Provision

Father, thank you that you know what I need before I ask. I come to you this morning with my hands open, because I do not always know how the day will work out. Some of my concerns are small, like what we will eat tonight and whether the car will make it to work. Others weigh more heavily, like the rent that is due, the hours that may be cut, and the people who depend on me. Lord, give me what I need for today, and help me trust you with tomorrow.

Teach me to receive your provision with a thankful heart rather than a grasping one. Keep me from measuring your care only by what I have, and open my eyes to the ways you have already been faithful. When I feel anxious, quiet me with the reminder that you are good and you are near. Help me to work honestly, to spend wisely, and to share with others when I am able. Let my needs turn me toward you rather than away. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, you give daily bread, and I need it today. Provide what I lack, steady my worry, and help me to be thankful for what you have already given. Show me what to do next and give me the wisdom and strength to do it. Thank you for caring about the details of my life. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Matthew 6:11

Give us today our daily bread.

(WEB)

Jesus taught his followers to ask for daily bread, which means asking for only what the day requires. Pray this verse by naming one specific need for today and placing it in God’s hands.

Philippians 4:19

My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Paul wrote this verse to a church that had shared generously with him. Use it to thank God for past provision and to ask him to supply what you need now.

Psalm 37:25

I have been young, and now am old, yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his children begging for bread.

(WEB)

This psalm reflects on a lifetime of watching God care for the faithful. Pray it as a reminder of God’s long record of care, and ask him to strengthen your trust in that same faithfulness.

Matthew 6:33

But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.

(WEB)

Jesus pointed his listeners away from anxious striving and toward seeking God first. Pray this verse by asking God to order your priorities so that your daily needs fall into their proper place.

Psalm 23:1

The LORD is my shepherd: I shall lack nothing.

(WEB)

The shepherd psalm begins with a simple statement that God meets every need of those who belong to him. Pray these words slowly, letting the image of a shepherd caring for his flock settle your heart.

How to Pray This Prayer

Try praying this prayer first thing in the morning, while you are still sitting on the edge of the bed or standing in the kitchen with your coffee. Keeping it at the start of the day gives the worries of the hours ahead a chance to be handed over before they gather momentum. If you have a notebook, write down the specific needs you are bringing to God so you can return to them later and notice how he answers.

You can also pray this prayer with a family member, a friend or a small group. Many people find it helpful to pray it together over a shared meal, asking God to bless the food and to care for anyone who goes without. Use your hands as you pray, perhaps by opening them, setting down a bill or a task, or holding a simple object that reminds you of God’s care. Physical actions can help a distracted mind stay present.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who feeds the birds and clothes the fields meet every need of the one who prays today. May he give enough for each day, steady every anxious thought, and open unexpected doors of help. May his peace guard the heart and his faithfulness go before the feet.
