This short morning prayer is for asking God to shape your work before the first meeting, shift change or inbox check begins. Pray it as you start your day, at the kitchen table, in the car or on the walk to the bus. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and put your own tasks and people into the words.
Short Morning Prayer for My Work
Lord, I am waking up to a day that already has its shape: the deadlines I know about, the conversations I am dreading, and the problems I have not yet seen. Before I open my email or walk through the door, I give this day to You. Thank You for the rest of the night and for the strength You have given me to get up and go. Help me to remember that my work is not separate from my life with You. Whatever I do with my hands and my mind today, let it be done as unto You.
Give me clear thinking for the tasks in front of me. Show me what matters most so I do not spend my energy on what only feels urgent. Where I am tempted to cut corners, make me honest. Where I am tempted to worry about people’s opinions of me, keep my eyes on You. When I meet my coworkers, my boss, my clients or the people I serve, let me listen before I speak, and let my words be kind and true. Guard my patience when things go wrong, and let me be someone others can trust.
Father, I do not know how this day will unfold, but I know You are already in it. I release my anxiety about performance, about money, and about the future of my job into Your care. Use my work to bless someone today, even in a small way. Keep me faithful in the ordinary things, and when I am tired or discouraged, remind me that You see my effort. Go with me into this day. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, I am heading into my work today and I need You in it. Give me focus for the first task, patience with the people I meet, and honesty in everything I do. Help me to do my best without needing to be perfect. Let my work be an offering to You, and let me end the day knowing I was faithful with what You gave me. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Pray this prayer before you check your phone or open your laptop, while your mind is still quiet. A good place is the chair by your bed, the kitchen table with a cup of coffee, or the driver’s seat before you turn the key. If your hands need something to do, hold a pen and write down the two or three tasks that matter most today, then pray over that list.
If you work with a team, consider sharing this prayer with a coworker or friend who is also starting their shift. You might pray the short version together by phone or text before your first meeting. Asking someone else to pray for your work can remind you that you are not carrying the day alone.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord go before you into this day and make your work steady and sincere. May He give you wisdom for each decision, grace for each difficult person, and peace when the work feels heavy. May your hands be made strong for good things, and may you come home knowing you were faithful.
